| Obverse description | Central field contains a multi-line Arabic Kufic inscription arranged in horizontal lines, presenting the Shahada (declaration of faith) and the name of the governor al-Hasan b. 'Isa. The field is enclosed within a single linear circle, beyond which runs a circular marginal legend in Kufic script giving the mint name Arminiya, the date formula written out in words as 'four and sixty and two hundred' (AH 264), and the basmala. The coin is struck on an irregular flan characteristic of Abbasid-period provincial hammered silver coinage, with moderate die wear visible across the central area. |

| Reverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic Kufic inscription arranged in horizontal registers, presenting a portion of the Shahada followed by the honorific title and name of the Abbasid Caliph al-Mu'tamid 'ala Allah and his title Amir al-Mu'minin (Commander of the Faithful). The central legends are enclosed within a single linear circle, surrounded by a continuous marginal legend in Kufic script containing Quranic verse 9:33 (the mission verse). The flan is irregular and moderately broad, consistent with hammered Abbasid provincial silver dirhams of the late third century AH. |
