| 正面描述 | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic Kufic inscription arranged in horizontal bands, containing the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada). The legend is surrounded by a circular marginal inscription in Arabic script running along the periphery of the flan. The coin exhibits the typical characteristics of Marwanid hammered silver coinage, with an irregularly shaped flan showing uneven striking pressure. The surfaces display natural silver patina consistent with age and circulation. |

The Marwanids were a Kurdish dynasty whose control of Mayyafariqin — the ancient city in the upper Tigris region, now Silvan in southeastern Turkey — placed them at the intersection of Byzantine, Hamdanid, and Buyid ambitions. Abu 'Ali al-Hasan came to power around 990 and managed to hold this strategically exposed territory through careful diplomacy rather than military strength alone. The dynasty's coins, struck in silver at Mayyafariqin, followed Abbasid epigraphic conventions while quietly asserting local authority.
