A prominent rope or beaded border is visible along the left edge of the square flan, framing the legend in a manner consistent with Wattasid dynastic coinage of the early sixteenth century. The inscription names Abdullah Ahmad as Commander of the Muslims, affirming the ruler's sovereign authority in the Maghribi tradition. The calligraphic style follows the broad Maghribi script conventions, with letters deeply impressed into the silver. The uneven flan edges and surface texture reflect the hand-hammered manufacture typical of contemporary North African monetary production. |
