| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displaying three to four lines of Arabic Kufic inscription referencing the Abbasid caliph and local governor, arranged in horizontal registers within a partial inner circle. A marginal legend in Arabic script runs along the circumference, containing the mint name Madinat Balkh and the AH date. The script is angular Kufic, boldly struck though slightly off-center, consistent with hand-hammered production. The reverse follows the standard Abbasid epigraphic format with religious and administrative formulae in the field and margin. |
