| Reverse description | Central field displays three horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic script within a double linear border, following the standard Abbasid dirham format. Above the uppermost text line the word Allah appears, mirroring the obverse layout. An inner circular marginal legend in Kufic script encircles the central inscription panel, divided from it by a raised ring. The outer margin carries an additional Arabic legend, likely containing the Quranic verse of the mission (Surah 9:33) and the mint and date formula, enclosed between two concentric raised circles. The epigraphy is bold and well-struck, consistent with the administrative dirham production of the Tahirid governors acting under Abbasid suzerainty at Samarqand. |
