| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central depiction of the Pont de la Margineda, a historic Romanesque stone arch bridge spanning a rocky riverbed, rendered in fine relief against a stippled field. The mint mark (M) for the Royal Mint of Spain appears to the right of the bridge. A circular legend in Latin runs around the upper periphery reading JOAN D.M. BISBE D'URGELL I PRINCEP DE LES VALLS D'ANDORRA, identifying Joan Marti i Alanis as Bishop of Urgell and Co-Prince of Andorra. The inscription PONT DE LA MARGINEDA appears in the lower field beneath the bridge motif. A decorative cross ornament is present at the base of the legend. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Andorra issued its first national coinage in 1982, having operated for centuries without a domestic currency — the French franc and Spanish peseta circulated interchangeably across the principality. The 1988 diner series honors Joan Martí i Alanís, who served as Bishop of Urgell from 1971 to 2003 and held, by that office, the position of co-prince of Andorra alongside the French head of state. Pont de la Margineda is a Romanesque bridge spanning the Gran Valira river, dating to the 13th century and still structurally intact.
