Andorra's coinage authority issued peseta-denominated coins for domestic circulation until the country adopted the euro in 2002, after which commemorative and collector issues continued under the old denominations purely for the numismatic market. This 2006 piece falls into that latter category — legal tender in name only, produced well after the peseta had ceased to function as Andorra's working currency.
