| Reverse description | Aniconic reverse in the Abbasid epigraphic tradition, with the central field divided into five horizontal registers of Kufic Arabic script. The uppermost line bears a terminal ornament above the main inscription, which opens with the Prophetic attestation 'Muhammad Rasul Allah' followed by blessings upon the Prophet, and concludes with the name of the Abbasid caliph Al-Muqtadir and the local ruler Ziyadat Allah. The field inscriptions are framed by a plain inner border, beyond which the circular marginal legend carries Quranic verse 9:33 in fine Kufic script. The outer rim is defined by a continuous beaded border consistent with hammered Aghlabid dinar production. |
