Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic religious legend arranged in horizontal registers, including the Shahada and honorific titles, executed in bold Kufic-influenced Naskh script. A circular marginal legend in Arabic script runs within a beaded or linear border encircling the field. The flan is irregularly shaped and slightly off-center, typical of hammered Islamic gold coinage of the period. The relief of the lettering is bold and well-struck, with some areas of weakness at the periphery consistent with hand-striking technique.
