| 背面描述 | Central field bears a prominent multi-line Arabic legend in bold raised relief, executed in a combination of square Kufic and cursive Naskh scripts, enclosed within a square-panelled border. The uppermost line of the central inscription reads the Shahada or a portion thereof, with further lines below containing the ruler's name and titles. A circular marginal legend in Naskh script surrounds the central device within a raised linear border. The coin's broad irregular flan and characteristic high-relief strike are typical of late Chagatai hammered silver dirhams struck at Samarqand. |

The Chagatai Khanate by 1359 was fragmenting badly — the western half, Mawarannahr, had fallen under the practical control of a succession of puppet khans manipulated by local amirs, while the eastern portion remained more traditionally Mongol in character. Shah Timur's coinage from Samarqand belongs to this contested interregnum period, issued under a khanate whose political coherence had largely collapsed before Timur-i-Leng began consolidating power in the following decade.
