The upper legend reads 'HABIB BOURGUIBA' in Latin script flanked by the Arabic equivalent 'حبيب بورقيبة', with the date 1969 incused beneath the portrait. The lower legend arcs around the rim in both Latin and Arabic scripts, reading 'PRESIDENT DE LA REP. TUNISIENNE' and its Arabic translation 'رئيس الجمهورية التونسية'. |

| Reverse description | Detailed high-relief depiction of the Roman triumphal arch and temple complex of Sufetula (modern Sbeitla), one of the best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in Tunisia. The central arch frames a colonnaded temple façade in the background, while flanking structures with additional arched openings extend to either side, all rendered with architectural precision. The legend 'SBEITLA · SUFETULA' arcs along the upper rim in Latin script, and the denomination '1 DINAR' appears in the lower right field in Latin script accompanied by the Arabic '١ دينار' to its left. |
