Reverse description The reverse presents an elaborate allegorical scene inspired by ancient Roman mosaic art, depicting Neptune — god of the sea — standing triumphant in a chariot drawn by sea-horses (hippocampi) surging through the waves. Neptune is shown bearded, draped, and nimbed, holding a long trident upright in his right hand while gesturing with his left; a semi-nude sea nymph or Nereid appears at the right of the composition. The denomination 1 DINAR in Latin characters and دينار in Arabic appear at the upper left, while the Latin legend NEPTVNVS is inscribed at the upper right. The engraver's mark appears at the lower exergue.
