Obverse description The obverse is entirely epigraphic in the Tughra-influenced Naskh script, presenting a bold multi-line Persian legend within a central circular cartouche. The field inscription reads 'duriba fi zaman al-abd al-raji rahmat allah muhammad bin tughluq' (Struck in the time of the servant hoping for the mercy of Allah, Muhammad bin Tughluq). A surrounding marginal legend encircles the central cartouche, separated by a raised linear border. The deeply hammered lettering displays the characteristic densely packed calligraphic style of early Tughluq gold coinage. No figural elements are present; the design is wholly devoted to the royal and devotional epigraphic program.
