| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a four-line Arabic inscription in bold Kufic-influenced script, arranged horizontally across the flan. The shahada occupies the uppermost lines, followed by the name of the Abbasid caliph al-Nasir li-Din Allah and his title Amir al-Muminin, affirming Abbasid suzerainty. A circular marginal legend runs within a raised linear border around the periphery of the coin, containing the Basmala. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of hammered Islamic gold coinage of this period. |
