Obverse description The obverse presents a central square cartouche filled with multiple lines of Arabic Naskh script bearing religious and dynastic legends, framed by a double-line border. The area between the central square and the coin's irregular circular periphery is occupied by an interlaced geometric and vegetal ornamental band, characteristic of Nasrid Andalusian art. A further band of Arabic inscription runs along the upper and lower margins outside the square frame. The entire design is executed in bold relief through the hammered technique, with the field exhibiting the characteristic irregular flan typical of medieval Iberian Islamic coinage.
