The Kerman Sultanate under the Qavurtid line occupied an unusual position in Seljuk politics — nominally subordinate to the Great Seljuks but functionally autonomous through much of the eleventh century. Iranshah bin Turanshah ruled only briefly, his short reign sandwiched between longer-reigning relatives, which accounts for the extreme scarcity of his coinage. Most Qavurtid gold issues of this period were struck at Bardasir.
