Additional information

The Chagatai Khanate in the 1340s was fracturing badly — the western half, known as Transoxiana, had become a battleground between rival amirs who installed and deposed khans at will. Dâshmand Saray's reign lasted only a matter of months in 1347, one puppet ruler among several that year. Coins struck in his name at the Saray mint are among the rarest of the entire Chagatai series precisely because production window was so narrow.
