The portrait occupies the central field and is engraved in the style of Henri-Auguste Patey, whose signature A.PATEY appears in small characters at the base of the neck truncation. A continuous Cyrillic circular legend surrounds the effigy, reading АЛЕКСАНДАР I. КРАЉ СРБА, ХРВАТА И СЛОВЕНАЦА (Alexander I, King of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes). The rim is bordered by a uniform band of beading.
