| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic religious legend arranged in horizontal bands within a plain inner circle. The Shahada and associated pious formulae are inscribed in angular Kufic script. A circular marginal legend in Arabic runs within a beaded or rope border encircling the field, carrying additional religious or dynastic text. The flan is irregular in outline, characteristic of hammered gold coinage of the Caspian dynasties of the 4th century AH. |
