Two surrounding annular bands carry additional Quranic verses or regnal formulae in Arabic script, all enclosed within a plain raised outer border and a beaded rim. The hammered flan results in a slightly irregular edge, characteristic of Fatimid gold coinage of this period. The calligraphy is executed in a compact Kufic style consistent with mid-sixth-century AH Fatimid mint practice. |
