Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Kufic Arabic religious inscription arranged in horizontal registers, reading the shahada and related formulae. The central legend is surrounded by a circular marginal inscription in Kufic script running along the inner border, separated from the field by a plain inner ring. The outer edge is defined by a rope or dotted border typical of Aghlabid gold coinage. The script is bold and angular, consistent with the hammered Kufic style of 9th-century Ifriqiyan dinars. No figural imagery is present, in accordance with Islamic aniconic tradition.
