Reverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Kufic Arabic inscription in horizontal registers, citing the name of the Abbasid caliph al-Mu'tazz and the local Aghlabid amir Ahmad ibn Muhammad, along with the name of the mint official Dadi. A circular marginal legend in Kufic script encircles the central area, separated by a plain inner ring. The outer border is defined by a granular or rope-pattern rim characteristic of hammered Aghlabid gold coinage of this period. The overall design is purely epigraphic, with no decorative or figural elements.
