| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a central field of five horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic script within a plain inner circle, incorporating the name of Abu Yazid Makhlad and a Quranic quotation (Sura al-Ikhlas, 112:1-4). A continuous marginal legend in Kufic script encircles the outer border, separated by a linear ring. The die-work reflects the Kharijite rebel's appropriation of standard Aghlabid dinar typology, substituting his own name in place of the Fatimid or Abbasid caliphal reference. The flan is slightly uneven at the edges, consistent with hammered production of the period. |
