Obverse description Hammered gold dinar of typical Aghlabid-derived North African type, struck at Qayrawan in AH 333. The central field contains four horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic script arranged within a plain inner circle, bearing the shahada and the mint-date formula. A marginal legend in Kufic script runs continuously around the outer border, separated from the central inscription by a plain linear circle. The surfaces are characteristic of hammered coinage, showing slight irregularity of flan with a warm golden patina throughout.
