Additional information

Abu Hammu Musa II ruled Tlemcen for over three decades, a remarkable tenure given the relentless pressure from the Marinid dynasty to the west, who sacked the city multiple times during his reign. He was twice driven from his capital and twice restored — the gold coinage issued across this long, interrupted rule reflects a court that maintained administrative continuity even in exile. Distinguishing issues by precise date within this period is difficult; the Zayyanid mint at Tlemcen did not always mark regnal years consistently.
