Obverse description At centre, the numeral '1' stylised in the form of a Neolithic arrowhead is superimposed over an outline map of Algeria. The circular legend 'بنك الجزائر' (Bank of Algeria) arcs across the upper field, while the denomination 'دينار' (Dinar) appears in the lower field, flanked by two decorative stars. The overall design draws iconographic inspiration from prehistoric rock art traditions of the Algerian Sahara.

Reverse description A bold frontal portrait of a prehistoric Bubalus antiquus (giant buffalo), rendered in a style evoking Saharan Neolithic rock engravings, occupies the central field. The animal's massive horns extend toward the rim on either side. The date appears in both the Hijri calendar (هـ) and the Gregorian calendar (م), positioned in the field to the left and right of the central motif respectively. Decorative rock painting motifs frame the composition, reinforcing the prehistoric artistic theme.
