Jordan's 1 Dinar series ran across an unusually long window — nearly two decades — during which the signature combinations changed repeatedly, making the prefix letter on the serial number the primary key to identifying earlier versus later printings. Notes with the Alif (ﺃ) prefix represent the earliest issues within the series; those with other prefix letters belong to later print runs. The distinction matters more to specialists than the catalog entry suggests at first glance, since some prefix combinations are considerably scarcer than others.
