Opmerkingen

The 1959 series was the first currency issued under the Iraqi Republic following the July 1958 revolution that overthrew the Hashemite monarchy. Bradbury Wilkinson, working from their New Malden facility, had already held Iraqi printing contracts under the kingdom — the new government retained them, though the imagery was overhauled to strip royal associations from the design program.

Pick 48 is sometimes found with ink oxidation along the face, a known characteristic of several Bradbury Wilkinson runs from this period tied to ink formulation rather than storage conditions.
