Obverse description The obverse features the allegorical figure of Liberty seated facing left upon a rock, draped in flowing robes, her right hand resting on a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY and her left hand holding a pole surmounted by a Liberty cap. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged around the periphery, seven to the left and six to the right of the central device. The date appears in the exergue below the seated figure.
