| Obverse description | Central field displays a large imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings, rendered in bold late-Gothic style typical of early sixteenth-century German municipal coinage. The eagle's heads face outward to either side, with detailed feathering across the wings and tail, and decorative flourishes at the base. A beaded inner circle frames the device, beyond which the Latin city legend runs continuously around the periphery. The die is hand-engraved with characteristic irregularities of hammered production, and a rosette or mullet serves as a legend divider at the top. |
