Obverse description Typographic letterpress design in olive-green on a tan guilloche underprint, with the central legend EINE DEUTSCHE MARK rendered in ornate lettering across the middle of the note, flanked to the right by an intaglio numeral 1 within a scalloped guilloche medallion enclosing the word MARK in an oval cartouche. Corner numerals 1 appear at all four angles within elaborate lathe-work borders, and the issuing authority text is set in smaller type beneath the central inscription. A two-letter prefix and seven-digit serial number are printed in red at upper centre.

Reverse description Olive-green and tan intaglio design composed entirely of elaborate guilloche lathe-work, with a large central numeral 1 set within a finely engraved rosette vignette flanked symmetrically by two circular medallions each inscribed DEUTSCHE MARK. The field is enclosed within a multi-layered ornamental border of interlocking guilloche bands, with the word BANKNOTE in a rectangular panel at the top and a vertically set anti-counterfeiting legal warning along the right margin. A separate tan coupon panel at the far right carries a numeral 1 within a decorative cartouche.
