| Obverse description | Diademed bust of Emperor Henry II facing right, rendered in a schematic early medieval style typical of Ottonian coinage. The effigy is set within a circular legend reading REX HENRICVS, with the lettering distributed around the periphery of the coin. The portrait, though stylized, retains the conventional attributes of royal dignity, including the diadem. The flan is irregular and the strike weak in places, consistent with hammered deniers of this period. |

| Additional information |
Henry II, Holy Roman Emperor, granted the Prince-bishopric of Liège the right to strike coin at Visé — a mint whose output during his reign remains sparse and poorly documented. Issues struck in the emperor's name from this mint are genuinely rare survivals from a period when Mosan episcopal minting rights were still being consolidated under Ottonian imperial authority. The specific reference Ilisch NL2#38.2 identifies this as a regionally distinct product of Visé rather than the more prolific Liège mint proper.
