Obverse description A schematic lion passant to the right occupies the central field, rendered in the bold, stylized manner characteristic of Leonese medieval coinage. The beast is depicted with a curling tail raised over its back, open mouth, and prominent foreleg raised in stride. The design is executed in high relief with strong, simplified lines typical of 12th-century Iberian hammered billon coinage. The irregular flan shows the characteristic uneven striking of the period, with portions of the design weakly impressed near the edge.
