Obverse description Crowned royal effigy facing right within a beaded inner circle, depicted as a draped bust with stylized hair rendered in short curved lines characteristic of Leonese Romanesque die-cutting. The crown is shown as a turreted or jewelled form typical of 12th-century Iberian coinage. The portrait is rendered in low relief in the crude but vigorous hammered style of the period. A partial Latin legend surrounds the figure within the outer field.

Obverse lettering REX LEO
(Translation: King of Leon)
Reverse description A plain Greek cross with equal arms occupies the central field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The four quadrants formed by the cross arms are plain. A Latin legend runs around the periphery of the coin outside the inner circle, partially visible due to the irregular flan. The design is struck in the characteristic crude hammered style of 12th-century Leonese billon coinage, with typical flat and uneven relief.
