Obverse description Bust of Ferdinand Charles facing right, with flowing long hair, occupying the central field of the coin. The portrait is rendered in a crude but characterful hammered style typical of minor German lordship coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. A partial Latin legend reading FERDIN. CHARLE or FERDIN. CHARL (depending on variety) runs along the upper periphery, partially obscured by the inner beaded border. The flan is irregular and slightly off-center, consistent with hand-struck production.
