The entire design is characteristic of the Venetian medieval hammered billon denaro tradition, struck on a thin, irregularly shaped flan with a markedly crude and uneven surface. The relief is low and the legends are partially visible due to the irregular flan and weak strike typical of this small-denomination coinage. |
