| Obverse description | Bust of Emperor Frederick II facing right, uncrowned, depicted in a schematic medieval style within a plain inner circle. The effigy is rendered in low relief with rudimentary facial features characteristic of Sicilian billon coinage of the mid-thirteenth century. The surrounding field contains the Latin legend arranged around the periphery between the inner circle and an outer beaded border.
