| Obverse description | Frontal facing eagle with folded wings, surmounted by a crown whose upper arc intersects the surrounding Latin legend. The eagle is rendered in a stylized Romanesque manner characteristic of Hohenstaufen Sicilian coinage, with the head depicted frontally and the wings displayed downward at the sides. The legend encircles the central device, partially interrupted by the crown at the top of the flan. |
