Obverse description A long cross pattée extends to the inner circle, dividing the field into four quarters. The arms of the cross terminate in splayed, flared ends characteristic of the pattée form. A circular legend surrounds the central motif, inscribed in uncial Latin characters. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the periphery, consistent with hand-struck medieval coinage. The overall style is typical of northern Italian communal denaro production of the mid-fourteenth century.
