Obverse description Central field displays the royal monogram PHI III in two lines, surmounted by an ornate imperial crown with fleurs-de-lis finials. The date 1608 appears in the lower portion of the field beneath the monogram. A circular Latin legend runs around the periphery, partially visible on the irregular flan, identifying Philip III as King of Spain. The design is executed in the hammered style typical of Milanese billon coinage of the early seventeenth century.

The Milan serpent biscione device appears integrated within the shield composition. A partial Latin legend encircles the field, identifying the issuer as Duke of Milan. The die workmanship reflects the hammered production technique characteristic of the Milanese mint under Spanish rule.
