Obverse description Central field features a plain cross pattée enclosed within a raised inner beaded circle. The surrounding outer legend reads ASTENSIS, separated by a cross symbol, rendered in crude majuscule Latin letters characteristic of medieval Italian hammered coinage. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of hand-struck denari of the period, with the design unevenly distributed across the surface.
