| Obverse description | A crowned shield of Scotland bearing a rampant lion passant guardant occupies the central field, rendered in the bold, somewhat rough style characteristic of hammered medieval Scottish gold coinage. The shield is surmounted by a crown and enclosed within a double tressure of fleurs-de-lis, all contained within an inner beaded circle. The surrounding legend in uncial lettering reads ROBERTVS DEI G REX SCOT, separated by pellets or stops, running clockwise between the inner and outer beaded borders. |

| Reverse description | A saltire cross divides the reverse field into four quadrants: a fleur-de-lis appears in the left and right quadrants, while a trefoil is placed in the upper and lower quadrants, all executed in the characteristic hammered style of late medieval Scottish gold coinage. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in uncial lettering reads XPC REGNAT XPC VIN, a devotional Christological invocation, running between the inner and outer beaded borders. |
