| Obverse description | Oval hammered silver flan bearing a bold Devanagari inscription occupying the entire field, struck in the characteristic crude style of Nepalese dam coinage. The legend, reading 'Shree Rana Bahadur Shah', is rendered in angular Devanagari characters arranged across two registers, filling the available surface with minimal surrounding field. The die-work is typical of the hand-cut dies employed at the Kathmandu mint during the late eighteenth century, with the letterforms showing the deliberate, slightly irregular strokes characteristic of hammered coinage of this series. No border or decorative elements frame the inscription. |
