Additional information

Ulrika Eleonora became queen in 1718 following the death of Charles XII at Fredriksten, but her reign was constitutionally constrained from the outset — she was compelled to renounce absolute monarchy and accept a new constitution in 1720 before the Riksdag would confirm her title. This coin falls squarely in that turbulent interregnum, struck while Sweden was simultaneously absorbing the shock of losing its king, its Great Power status, and its political system within a span of two years.

The "Hope" designation refers to the Stockholm mint's batch identifier, not a commemorative purpose.
