Obverse description Full-length facing figure of King Gustav Vasa standing in the field, depicted as a armored knight wearing a plumed beret (the 'barett' that gives this type its collector name), richly ornamented with a floral collar and armored greaves. The king holds a long scepter or halberd in his right hand and a globus cruciger or orb in his left, with a shield at his side. The date 15-34 is divided to either side of the figure in the inner field. The effigy is rendered in a bold, early Renaissance Germanic style characteristic of the period. A circular beaded border encloses the central design, with the Latin legend running continuously around the periphery.
