Obverse description Draped bust of Queen Christina of Sweden facing slightly right, depicted as a young sovereign with long curled hair falling to the shoulders, wearing an elaborately embroidered and jewelled gown with a lace collar. The effigy is set within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend reading CHRISTINA D:G: SUE. GOT. VAN. Q. REG. & PRIN. distributed around the periphery in large lettering. The portrait reflects the second official likeness of the queen as adopted for the Riga civic coinage, rendered in the bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of mid-17th century Baltic thaler production.
