| Obverse description | Draped bust of King Carl XI facing right, depicted with long flowing hair in the baroque style, occupying the central field of the coin. The effigy shows the young king in a mantle with visible drapery folds at the shoulder. A continuous Latin legend encircles the portrait along the raised rim, separated from the bust by the inner border. The portrait is rendered in high relief with naturalistic facial features characteristic of late 17th-century Swedish medallic art. |

| Obverse lettering | CAROLUS · D · G · SVECO · GOTHO · VANDALO : REX · (Translation: Carolus Dei Gratia Sveciae Gothorum Vandalorumque Rex Carl, with God`s grace, King of Sweden, the Goths, and the Wends) |
| Reverse description | The arms of the City of Riga — a stylized castle gateway — displayed prominently in the central field, surmounted by crossed keys and a crown. The date 1668 is divided and placed on either side of the central device, with the engraver's initials I·M flanking the lower portion of the design. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the entire composition along the rim, identifying the coin as a new silver piece of the city of Riga. |
