| Opmerkingen |
The Gambia's 1 Dalasi entered circulation when the country was barely a decade removed from British colonial rule and still in the process of establishing its own monetary institutions — the Central Bank itself had only been constituted in 1971, the same year this series began. The long print run spanning into the mid-1980s reflects a stable, low-denomination workhorse note rather than any particular monetary episode worth dramatizing.
Bradbury Wilkinson handled the bulk of anglophone West Africa's early post-independence note production out of their New Malden facility, and the Gambian issues are generally competent rather than distinguished examples of their output. The P#4 designation covers an extended series with minor signature varieties — collector focus typically falls on the early 1971 dated signatures rather than the later issues.
