| Obverse description | Bareheaded, armored mid-length bust of William V van Bronckhorst facing left, his right hand holding a helmet and his left hand grasping the hilt of a sword, all contained within a beaded inner circle punctuated by three heraldic shields positioned at approximately 2:00, 6:00, and 10:00 in the field. The surrounding legend in Latin is separated by star stops and terminates with a pomegranate mint mark. The portrait is rendered in the robust Renaissance style typical of mid-sixteenth-century Low Countries coinage. |
