Obverse description Armored bust of Philip II facing right, rendered in high relief with finely engraved details on the gorget and pauldron. The effigy displays the king with short curly hair and a close-cropped beard, characteristic of his mature portraiture. The circumferential Latin legend runs along the outer border within a beaded inner circle. The date 1563 appears in the lower field, divided by the mint mark of Nijmegen.
